Studying from home is a good option for people like me that are chronically ill. I'm relaly looking forward to the day when I'm no longer sick and can get back into the swing of things. When that happens I want to be prepared!
Due to my health, I've had to deffer my current course of study, but I really feel at a loss to work out what to do next. I'm thinking that studying online might be the way to go. There are alot of institutions out there offering online courses, and alot of them have no accreditation, which is a big problem.
One of the ones that looks good is the Minniapolis based www.capella.com. I saw a web release about them recently and was impressed with thier range of courses, which include education IT, business etc, including some counseling ones that I'm interested in taking. They have online degree programs too, which I might move into after doing a certificate. They have over 16000 students from 63 different countries, so I might even find some aussies on there somewhere! They have been online since 1993 so they look like they are here to stay.
I'm really sad that I can't continue the course I was doing in "real-life" but at least there are some alternatives out there, which will allow me to continue to do some study, at my own pace, anyway.
Is all I have left of the headaches of the last few days.
Of course I always worry about this because many of my headaches START as a pain in the neck and I'm worried that they are going to just come back again!
Anyways, I'm supposed to go Christmas Shopping tonight but I'm not sure I'm up to it. Some good ideas over at over at Brigidsblog.com on budgeting and prioritizing holiday shopping.
One of the things about being unwell, is that to do shopping takes alot of organisation. *Everything* takes alot of organisation. And I'm not naturally an organised person, which is a shame really.
At any rate, with the advent of the internet I can get shopping online - and I think that will make all the difference. Now I just have to stick to a budget!
The other pain in the neckky thing at the moment is that I will have to deffer my studies until next year. I can't afford it any longer, and it is putting too much stress on me with the exams. I was alright with them before, but I've fallen behind a bit and I will have trouble catching up. Unfortunately it's not a course I can do at my own pace which is an issue.
I'll have to think about my approach to study. I do want to do some more training, perhaps I can do that online and it won't be such a stress-out. I need to do something to keep my focus elsewhere, and bunny love is not enough. I'd also like to retrain to get a better job. I think I'd be less stressed if I was doing something I loved.
I think most people have experienced ice cream headaches - sharp stabs of pain in your head after ingesting an ice cream in hot weather. (For some unknown reason, ingesting icecream in cold weather does not have the same effect.)
http://www.thebrainfreeze.com is a pretty cool and funny look at this phenomenon

In the form of a chocolate bar. A nice yummy, comfort food, mint aero bar.
Now I can't tell if I have today's headache because of the stress um under right now, or because of the chocolate bar I ate because of the stress i'm under right now

I'm already starting to think about Christmas. Like every year, this year I vow will be different, less stressful, more enjoyable, better planned, fewer headaches, of all kinds.
Christmas shopping is my worst nightmare. I always leave it to the last minute despite reams of good intentions, but NOT THIS YEAR. This year, will be different

I had a call from a friend last night - she gave me a hard time for not keeping in contact with her more often.
Sometimes I really feel like people just don't get it. I've been sick with various stuff (adrenal stress, CFS, migraines etc.) For a couple of years now. I just CANNOT be the social butterfly I once was. Talking in the phone can trigger a headache, so I tend to avoid long phone conversations, something I once loved

Not having had a migraine for a while now (over a month!) I've forgotten how bad they are. I had college all weekend and now all this week as well.
When I got home, the lingering pain at the back of my neck that I've had since Friday exploded. All down the top of the neck area, and a swear I could feel my atlas bone sticking out - I can't feel it today, so there definitely is a difference

I fell asleep on the couch last night. Which was really a STUPID thing to do - I got a bad nights sleep and my neck feels out of alignment. I still don't have a headache, but if this neck pain continues, I'm worried it will spark something. I usually start a cluster or a migraine with a neck ache.
I was reading yesterday that there is a trial on for the hole-in-the-heart issue website is http://www.escapemigraines.com [ Click here to read more ]
